Over the past week and half I have had occasion to make regular visits to a local hospital. As part of my visit, I treat myself to my favorite coffee at the national chain that has set up shop in the lobby.
The first day, I gave my order to the barrista who prepared my order exactly as I like it. When I came back the next day, they said "I remember you, I got you." It wasn't busy so we talked and they asked "What is The Identity Dr (I was wearing my logo jacket)? We chatted a bit and I gave them my card.
On day 3, it was like we were old friends, we chatted and it was lovely. At the end I asked, "Will I see you tomorrow?" To which she replied, "I'll be here!"
I find myself looking forward to our brief interaction today.
It is amazing how just a few moments of interaction can make us feel valued.
It's important to recognize the same is true of self-interaction. Take a few moments each day to check in with yourself.
When is the last time your took the time to pause and see how you are doing?
Try it. You will be surprised how it makes you feel.
